"Edge of the Bagley" Backpacking - 6 days in August ![]() |
Eric & Tricia are an enthusiastic couple in their early 30s, teachers living in Brooklyn, eager to experience the wilderness of Alaska as part of their honeymoon! They are avid backpackers who have previously lived and played throughout the western US. Getting married can be expensive, and they are hoping for another adventurer or two to join them and reduce the cost of their trip. They are currently planning to do a six-day backpacking trip along the edge of the Bagley Icefield from the Fan Glacier to Iceberg Lake. The area is simply gorgeous - deep tundra covered valleys surrounded by hanging glaciers, where a one day scramble to the top of a peak could afford sweeping views of the Bagley Icefield (largest sub-polar icefield in the world). $1475 per person for 2 people August 10th-15th, 2008 |
Kira is an all around outdoor enthusiast and businness owner form New Paltz New York. She's hiked in much of the lower 48 national park system and is interested in developing her natural landscapes photography skills into a new career someday. Kira is spending one month in Alaska's Inside Passage and south-central region exploring in 4 national parks as well as the aleutians. Kira is very excited about her trip to the Wrangells and would really like to share it with some other enthusiastic folks to reduce the cost and increase the fun! The destination of the basecamp is flexible (most likely Iceberg Lake or Skolai Pass), as long as it is beautiful, so Kira can take lots of pictures! $1175 - $2250 per person (depends on destination) August 12th-15th, 2008 |

If you're short on time but still want to experience the best Alaska has to offer, this is the trip for you! Start in a lake full of Icebergs at the toe of the Nizina Glacier and follow the Nizina River all the way to its end where it joins the Chitina River. Pass beneath mile-high cliffs, hike to giant waterfalls and enjoy the fun Class III rapids of the Nizina Canyon. Enjoy spectacular bush plane flights into and out of the river. Barry is a lawyer from Hawaii who, along with 2 friends, will be hiking from Skolai Pass to the Nizina Glacier over the seven days prior to the start of the river trip. They will be looking forward to the luxury of river travel after their challenging journey and would love to find a few more interesting people to join them as they head downstream. $1,850 per person July 6th-8th, 2008 |
Sarah and Deedee are two sisters in their 20s from England. They've been dreaming about coming to Alaska together pretty much since they were kiddies! They're really excited about finally doing it and can't wait to get out on the glaciers and experience the wonders of the Alaskan wilderness. They have a little hiking experience and tonnes of enthusiasm for testing their skills on the ice. They know its always great to share such experiences with others so are looking for anyone who's interested in coming along and joining in! They're planning to do the Glacier and Tundra Trek from 2nd-6th July (unfortunately dates are inflexible due to a tight schedule. ...There's just too much to see!) $995 per person July 2nd-6th, 2008 |
