Despite many days of exploration in the Chugach, Talkeetna and Alaska Ranges over the last 10 years, Eli's favorite place to play is the St. Elias Range because of the seclusion, low traffic, and pure wilderness. Eli's father was a whitewater and wilderness guide, so he was raised on adventure. He grew up in the Northern Adirondacks, climbing rock and ice, ski touring, backpacking and canoeing. Eli has done extensive ski touring and alpine climbing in NW Montana, as well as the Canadian Rockies and Selkirks. He has climbed throughout the Western US, New Zealand's Southern Alps and Canadian Maritimes-as well as kite skiing in Antarctica. Eli graduated from the Landing School of Wooden Boat Building as a boat carpenter in 1999. He is an associate member of the American Mountain Guides Association. |
