When Colin applied to work for us in 2009, he submitted, along with his resume and cover letter, a document entitled "The Story of the Wayward Mountain Guide". In his story, he described how his ambition to be a guide was originally crushed by a cynical friend, and how, after a couple decades of "normal" life and a professional career, he had come back to his dream and would love nothing more than to take it to the ultimate guiding destination, Alaska.

With the passion of one fulfilling a life-long dream, it's probably no surprise that Colin is one of the most professional and dedicated guides out there. Although every now and then he misses the comforts of his winter home (mainly showers and his wife, probably in that order!), when you're adventuring with Colin you can tell you're in the hands of a true professional, one who takes his job of keeping you safe and happy very very seriously.

Colin is quickly becoming one of our lead river guides and star ice climbers, but is always just as happy to take a mellow jaunt on the glacier or through town with you as well. Look for Colin around the Wrangells and make sure you comment on his "chipmonk doo"!
