 Matthew

wierd

Matthew fell under the spell of the high country after arriving in Seattle to work for Mountain Safety Research as an engineer in 1996. Since then he has climbed and guided rock & ice climbing and mountaineering in Alaska, Argentina, and the "Lower 48".

"I really get a kick out of empowering people with the skills and confidence to enjoy the mountains . . " says the 5 year AK resident. Matthew's favorite areas include Denali, Little Switzerland, the Wrangells, the Chugach, and the Bagley Icefield in Alaska; as well as the Sierras, Cascades, and Patagonian Andes on the "Outside". Matthew's love for the mountains is contagious, and his confident, fun-loving personaliy never fails to make people feel comfortable and excited to head out on their adventure.

Matthew also guides raft trips through our partner company, Copper Oar.
