Guide Spotlight – Rachel Ryan

Alaskan guide hiking glacierKind-hearted and as easy-going as they come, we’ve been lucky enough to have Rachel as part of the team since 2017! A jack of all trades, you can find her in the office, out on the glacier, or guiding in the backcountry. But no matter where you run into Rachel, you can bet she’ll have a smile on her face and a kind word to say.

With a love for traveling and experiencing new places, Rachel has called many states – and even countries! – home. Spending her younger years in Montana then Tennessee, Rachel moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver and earn a degree in International Studies and Strategic Communications. Shortly after finishing school, Rachel joined a fellowship in Sri Lanka for a year in order to apply her degree. Although she made great connections during her tenure there, Rachel missed working in the outdoors and moved back to the states to pursue her passion – and we were happy to welcome her back!

Not afraid to push herself, Rachel takes full advantage of the outdoors on her days off. Exploring the glacier, hiking local peaks, or even just taking it easy at the local swimming hole, as long as she’s outside, you know she’s having a good day. If you’re lucky enough to run into her roaming McCarthy, say hi!
